I haven't seen this distinction made before so posting it here. I did some testing and realized that Tinder has two types of shadowbans. The hard shadowban is where you just don't get any matches at all. If you turn on boost, it won't show you the micro avatars of people who saw your boost, because your profile is invisible. The soft shadowban is a bit different. If you delete your subpar profile and make a new improved one too many times, unknown to you, your swipe history will be restored, so most ladies won't see you if you exhausted your area previously. Most people would imagine with a soft shadowban their matches are being reduced when in fact it's the pool of ladies.

that makes sense. Do you have any data to confirm this or any other hard evidence

Gotcha gotcha. Yeah, shadowban is definitely not a myth

The " If you delete your subpar profile and make a new improved one too many times, unknown to you, your swipe history will be restored, so most ladies won't see you if you exhausted your area previously." theory is interesting, but I don't think it's really feasible to prove this.
I do agree about the "two types of shadowbans" thing though. I see it more as true shadowban vs. degraded Elo.
