Have you experienced a bug in Hinge that only shows you fat/ugly chicks?

Over the past year+, many users on the Hinge subreddit as well as a few in the Game commnuity have reported an unfortunate bug in Hinge where they only see the lowest-rated users in their Discover section.
I'm doing a survey to see if we can crowdsource some information on why this might be happening.

See I get Alex saying its the ELO score, in no way will i claim no know anywhere near as much as him. But if it is the ELO score, then hinge has a weird way of showing it. I mean I'm using the same profile on Bumble and Tinder and i see plenty of very attractive women. Hinge, on the other hand, it takes me like 30 minutes to get through my free likes because of how many unattractive women i see, and in all honesty in my months on other apps I've never seen this level of unattractive women. I'm not claiming to have amazing pictures, mine are probably like a 6-7/10 each, but like as a guy who's a 5/10 thats not terrible (still working on getting better pics, every opportunity i get when out with friends i snap some so its in progress definitely not done). So idk i wouldn't be surprised if its a bug, but if it is the ELO score i might have to save Hinge for when I really perfect my profile. I honestly thought i heard Alex say they abandoned the ELO score stuff recently but i guess i was mistaken.

It's not the Elo score, Alex misunderstood the issue. What you and I have experienced is a bug (or potentially something more nefarious) where Hinge's sorting algorithm gets reversed and you see the most unattractive users first.
Can you let me know the following?
If you've ever been knowingly banned or shadowbanned on either Tinder or Hinge
If you use shirtless or provocative photos on Hinge
If this persists for you despite creating a new account
If this happens shortly after creating your account, or after swiping for a while
If it gets better after swiping for a while, or after a number of days
If it's gotten better after visiting another city and coming back to your city
Hoping we can pool our knowledge to get more insight into what's going on here.

Haven't been shadowbanned or banned to my knowledge. No provocative pics or reason to be reported. This is technically my 2nd hinge, i used it before but disliked it so i deleted my account. Decided to give it another try after seeing one of Alexs vids. This is the first week of my new account so yes im having this issue after creating it. It doesnt really get better necessarily after swiping. So my experience is that (and this made me think it was the ELO score) i swipe through 20 unattractive women, then find one attractive one. The attractive one is ALWAYS new to hinge, which made me think my ELO was shit and i would only see the occasional attractive woman because her score hadnt been adjusted yet due to her account being new. It hasnt really gotten better, like i said though my account is only a week old now. Its just weird to me because i always thought ELO had to do with other people seeing my account, not me seeing other peoples but maybe hinge does it differently

it's called the low ELO score. You can fix it by getting pictures.

No, it's not. Click the links in the reddit post. This happens to many guys, regardless of pictures or attractiveness of profile. It's a bug in Hinge.

post a screenshot of your profile and ill tell you very quickly if its your pics or a "bug"

What you can do is set your age to a very specific range, like 24-25, and distance to 1 mile. You'll exhaust the uggos faster and you can get your 10 free likes in on the normal girls. Then rinse and repeat every day.

From what I've seen around the net, many people have this fat and trans "bug" happen first for a lengthy period of time soon after joining before it "gets to normal."
For a few others (including myself), it just randomly starts happening one day then goes endlessly. (Some have stated that they eventually got through the long "wave" of endless back to back to back fats and trans and have returned to normal).
There are also the group who say the waves come and go.
Therefore....... Not sure what to conclude. If the people saying it's our pics or our own profile causing it, then I am very amazed at how great our profiles and pics can be one moment and how terrible they can suddenly become the next... like a stock market share... to cause such a back and forth fluctuation. If it is a result of ELO score, then still, something needs to be fixed if the score keeps having dramatic fluctuations out of the blue for those of us in the US and UK seeing the long extended waves of fat men and women.

Happened to me actually for quite a while but doesn’t seem to be the case now.
Was annoying at the start, having to sit there for a long period of time until finding someone attractive. But just stuck through it and worked on actually getting the matches. I found that I managed to match with most chicks I liked. And the more I matched with, the more hot girls were being shown to me. Strange I guess but that’s just my experience with it. Now I find Hinge to be easier than Tinder and Bumble.

Yep, that's what I've heard from other guys as well, that if you get some matches it eventually goes back to normal. You can also get around it by setting your age/distance settings really low, and clearing out all the ugly girls in that setting, then slowly working back up from there.
