I try to (1) keep it as invested as the girl or less, (2) fun/flirty, and (3) soft close when ready but I seem to get a lot of ghosting on hinge. These girls are cute but the flake rate is ~80%. Anything obvious I'm messing up on? 3 sets of examples attached, with varying levels of investment from the girl from start to finish. I've tried investing even less before but got even more ghosting, which is why my messages are now between 70-100% the length of hers.

your not doing anything majorly wrong. The 2 pointers i would have for you is avoid the random hypothetical questions. And 2, add some flirting and humor into your texting, right now its a bit to much matter of factly. Check out some of my LRs for examples, however even if you have perfect text game, its normal for convos to stall out. Happens to me all the time. All you can do is be persistent.

Cool, thanks I've read a lot of your work and watched a lot of your videos - really good stuff, so thanks. I tried to start it off with humor (e.g. you're either really good at standing or riding horses, trying to decide the meaning of this, etc) and some flirting down the line (e.g. not bad, we might have potential), but it still stalled out. Are you saying that I should do more flirting/humor and even less personality questions/topics?
Wonder what's the right balance between the flirting/humor and a 'deeper' connection bc I found that when I went too flirty or teasing before, it'll stall out even faster...
Pains me sometimes to lose these girls due to convo stalling bc some of them are literally smoking hot...like hotter than even porn stars

yeah that would be my recommendation, check some of my LRs for my texting styles however if you find that what you are doing works better then keep doing that. While there are some universal text game principles, theres also cusomization based on each persons personaility.
