No, I don't think you lost any value by telling her you switched jobs. Most chicks don't care about that. Your follow up text is fine, but remove the "Haha" part from it. In general you want to minimize the use of "Hahas" and "Lols" that make your texting sound feminine.

Very rarely, they're largely unnecessary. I prefer to use a ;) when I need to "soften" a text
