Makes sense. Btw, how would you literally reply back with "Dont worry, it wasn't a trick question"? Would you add a ":)" or "..." to make it more obvious it's said lightheartedly?
E.g.

She should pick up on it, I normally do a couple of dots after, "Don't worry, it's not a trick question.." if you add the smile it takes some of the power of the takeaway off is what I've found lol, not sure if that makes sense but yeah.
