Your texting is fine. The issue is that you guys live in completely different cities and logistically this is very unlikely to resolve in the meetup. That is probably why she unmatched you. Personally, I would only message girls who are in the same city as me. Everything else, is a waste of time.
In terms of Tinder vs. IG, yes, Tinder will be much more effective, because the girl already swiped right on you and finds you attractive.
