I have something similar, (To note I am texting other women as well, just this is a girl I would like to turn into a relationship)

The girl im texting was through mutual friends, I had a long makeout session a few years ago, we were planning to do something from that night like turn it into a relationship, but at distance. I fucked it up by not being masculine and getting needed, so we stopped talking.

Just before the first lockdown in the UK, she messaged me to talk as "Just Friends" because she didn't like how she left things off... over lockdown, it has moved to flirting and talking about dating and going into a relationship, even to the point she even acknowledged it where she said I hope all this flirting doesn't go to waste. I at the moment have the same concern as you. At the start we where texting none stop daily on Snapchat, sending snaps and stuff, then we moved to Facebook and now we message every couple of days, but it's still flirting back and forth conversation. a few months back she did start dating someone else and was upfront about it, I was maintained a masculine stance... 2 days later she text me (basically crawling back, because the other guy wasn't like me), ever since its been flirty, random drunk phone calls and stuff from her. I have tried getting her to do a virtual date on camera but she always comes up with excuses or flake (I think its more a I dont want to invest and then get hurt cause its only a covid thing)

The way I'm handling:
1 - Delay responses so we text maybe every 2-3 days (she seems to be doing the same, I think she's feeling the same there)
2 - Maintaining Attraction (just be an attractive high-value man)
3 - Flirting (so when we send messages back and four its like 3 or 4 messages each, so have space to send flirty messages)
4 - Sexually escalating (But not to much, just brining a sexual vibe into things as not to just be sexting buddy)
5 - Maintaining the "WE" frame (I text her as if we are a guarantee, like saying "When I kiss you" "we are going to")

The issues im having:
1 - Things to talk about, although our conversations our flowing over the few days I feel like im running out of things to say that id rather talk about in person
2 - I dont know how to maintain attraction past just being my masculine self (even after watching all I can, im still struggling to understanding being attractive over text)
3 - I don't know if I should move to sext, I have tried in the past but she just shoots it down saying

If im doing this wrong I am 100% open to be corrected and I am 100% open to making this work, Im getting my fun from elsewhere but after covid, I want to make this work with her and start a potentially meaningful relationship.

I don't think being their text buddy is the best idea, these chicks are probably tired of covid as well. Try to get them straight back to your place, or if they are concerned get a quick takeaway coffee + walk.
