My question is simple: how to re-engage and ask for a second date. How long to wait to ask for a second date and to reengage and how to do it. I'd like to distinguish two scenarios: 1) You slept with the girl on the first date
2) you didn't sleep with the girl.
It may seem trivial but I am having lots of issues asking for second dates.

one technique is to seed the second date while you're on the first. you work it in when you find something in common, do it in a non-needy way when she's on a high note. for example, she brings up xyz, and you say well at least we know what we're doing on our next date. but then don't push it or literally schedule it, just drop those in.
i would do it several times. this also give you a barometer on her responses. remember you're making chess moves, so be prepared going into the first date. i would seed if even if you don't think you yourself are interested in the second date at that moment. gives you that option but you're not locked in, you can always decline.
