I've been really absent minded with tinder/instagram these days because of uni work, so I've often been leaving tinder messages 24/48+ hours and I was wondering how bad this is for building investment. Also, at what point should I just reopen rather than continuing the same conversation?

Respond as quickly as you can, you need to treat it like a sale. The buyer will go cold after a while. The girl isn't gonna hang around forever and eventually, shell categorize you as a texting buddy

its not ideal, but i honestly do the same thing. 24-48hrs should not be a deal breaker. And might actually work in your favor in certain situations. For example you may message a girl right away and shell double text you. Or she will send you her number asking you to text her. I've had this happen several times as well.
In terms of your second question it really depends on the situation.
