Ya I played around with this and had a dirt bike pic. Id say it works against you if anything and doesn't improve your smv. the only way it works if your face is clearly visible

Well if the girls don't find out then I guess it shouldn't do you any harm, however, I have found that lying and using tactics can certainly hurt your inner game.
I'm sure that there are interesting aspects of your life that you can use for the exact same purpose.
If you really feel like you're profile is not that good I would suggest that you continue using these photos until you are able to replace them with photos of your own lifestyle, but, you should definitely work on replacing them.
Also, if you're going to be doing this, pick activities that you actually like. If you're afraid of heights then don't use a picture of a guy skydiving.
Your profile should convey your personality so that you match with girls that have similar interests.
