Girl eyefucked me, then lost interest over text?

I mean, I don't blame her. I'm not super calibrated or experienced in texting yet.
To set the context, I saw this girl in a cafeteria, with a strong eye contact that just felt like "damn, it's on". Went up, mentioned something about her jeans being ripped the whole way down. Was pretty nervous, ended up saying "would you like to go on a date?" in the first few moments.
Her response was "maybe", and I realize it was an invitation to give a bit more comfort first, but I just got her number and name and bounced, I was so nervous.
Anyway, I worried if she'd even reply, but had enough interest to do that much it seems. But my attempts at humor are falling flat so far and I don't know where to go from here. In negative compliance territory.

I'm not a big fan of the trouble opener from cold approach since you already opened her cold in person.
I probably would have responded with "whoa we got a world class cat burglar over here." Or "and what type of treasure did you get in this elaborate heist?" Then I would have switched it to a standard give me the basics line after her response or said " oh ya, that's classic so how's your wild Wednesday or taco Tuesday etc. I love the line, "How's your wild Wednesday been thus far; anything exciting planned?" usually they say know and then I say "sounds like we should change that and I know just the thing." They say some version of what's "what's that?" and I respond with "the romantic date I've planned for us of course." then you are working off a soft close typically from there.
Anyway the sounds like you need some adventure line was odd response.
I guess your stuck with saying "how so?" or just "yes?" as your responses but you probably blew this one out to be honest.
Here's the positive, if you keep approaching you will get better at it (don't ask for a date super early like you did). check out alex's videos on cold approach. In particular I love the recent video he did critiquing his student that they mic'd up.

You're right; I'm trying to hard but need to get comfortable with using the basics until I can do stuff well on my own.
That suggestion also touches on solving another issue of mine, namely not working out logistics/making things happen/spinning my wheels.
Thank you!
