Hey guys
I'm from Brazil, and here it is actually very commom for girls to ask about your political position. Here we're governed by Jair Bolsonaro, who is kind of a "Trump-like" style politician. I think we are living a moment of polarization as big as in the USA, in which people assume you are good or evil according to your political compass.
As you would expect: 80~90% of 20-30 year-old girls here are left-wing. They use to have "Fora Bolsonaro (=out Bolsonaro)" written in their bios. And it is VERY COMMON (very, really) that they will ask you what's your opinion in politics. I use to joke around, change the subject or something like that. Usually it works fine.
But I got curious to ask: what do you think is the BEST response to when a girl ask you: "So what do you think about Bolsonaro/Trump?"
Thanks

If you ask... Really, I'm far from a supporter. Pollitically I lean to classic british liberalism. Temperamentally, I'm quite creaive which tilts me to the left. However, I'm an individualist, not a collectivist (neither of the left nor of the right). As a free-market defensor, I admit Bolsonaro is best we've had in like a century. But only mentioning something like this would make me a fascist in the eyes of a typical brazilian 22-yo middle class chick. So ofc I don't mention.

Generally, you can say something like "I don't really follow politics" or something like that. In America, we have something called the "Libertarian party" & that's always a safe anwser as well, since no check can really fault you for being all about freedom. Generally, what I've noticed is that engaging with SJW/very Liberal girls is almost always a disaster, while girls in the middle or on the right you can joke around more. But as you said, avoiding politics or joking is usually the best way to go.
