Hey gents,
I hate fair rides. They scare me. I also don't enjoy the feeling of being thrown around by a steel machine. Not so much the safety aspect (even though that wouldn't be an irrational concern). But mainly it's being scared of heights aspect. (Also, the idea of a malfunction and being stuck on the ride for hours upside down, 75 feet off the ground).
There's a few rides I can go on. But not the ones involving height.
I won't go on that "swing" ride, where you're high up in the air suspended by chains, for example. Or "The Enterprise" where you're in a steel cage and revolving upside down and pulling G forces.
Let's say I take a bird to the state fair. Let's say she loves fair rides and wants to go on them. Let's say she wants to go on that swing ride. Is it guaranteed I'll look like a wuss and lose respect if I don't go on it? Or is there a way I can avoid going on the ride, but play it off and "own it"? Or would the best thing be not take her to the fair and avoiding that potential situation altogether?
The other option, getting over my fear and going on the rides, I don't think is a possibility.
I really like the fair though, and I'd like taking her there. Just those damn rides..
Appreciate it!
