When she said "Maybe in the distant future" I would've definitely called that out with either "Distant future?" or "You don't sound confident" I think with that you would've gotten to the root cause of her hesitation right there and then.
At this point, I would say "Well yeah, we haven't even met yet"

Appreciate your advice, I'll give it a shot. I went for the wine close too quickly. After realizing it I let it go and figured I would try to close later. Sub optimal texing. I deserve to lose this one. Will let you know. Thank you.

Establish a chain of compliance. Start will small hoops and build up to bigger hoops.
