when a girl matches with you and messages you first with something generic (hey, how are you; how was your weekend, etc), where your bio is slightly sexual (similar to yours) is it still best to proceed in a genuine / similar way (matching her vibe), or should the goal be to gradually change the vibe to playful/sexual. Just seems like some girls don't always respond well when making things playful - is there anyway to key in on this before hand or things to look out for? Should the goal still be to setup a wine date at home if the overall conversation never really got flirty or sexual, but there was ample investment to carry things forward?

If the girl messages you first that generally a very good sign. I would more or less match her vibe "Hey what's up" and smoothly move things towards a flirty direction. And yes, I would always try to go for the straight to the house wine date first. Even if she objects, her response will give you a good idea whether she is worth meeting up with. For instance, if she completely balks at the idea than she might be a waste of time. however, if she says something like " Is it ok if we meet for a drink first " than you should do the public date.
